Article alerts

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. -- Headbomb {???????????? - WP Physics} 08:58, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

Ongoing projects in College Baseball

The postseason coaching carousel is winding down and we're finalizing 2013 pages. While you continue to work on these during the offseason, we hope you'll also consider helping us with projects of broader and historical interest. Many of these projects have navboxes with redlinks that need to be filled in. Some of our biggest needs are listed below. Please help us expand coverage of College Baseball!

CWS Runners up

Mizzou415 created season pages for the CWS Champions, and we've now moved on to creating season pages for CWS runners up. Please see the table below for your team's CWS runner up seasons that do not have a page and create a page for them:

Venues

We are trying to create a page for each Division I baseball venue. We have run into issues with notability of stadiums housing small programs, so please ensure you create an article citing independent sources - not just the program's web page. An easy place to find this is newspaper articles covering renovations, upgrades, and tournaments. Conferences not listed below are complete.

  • {{Atlantic 10 Conference baseball venue navbox}} - 1
  • {{Big East Conference baseball venue navbox}} - 1
  • Independents - 1
  • {{Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference baseball venue navbox}} - 3
  • {{Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference baseball venue navbox}} - 2
  • {{Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball venue navbox}} - 5
  • {{The Summit League baseball venue navbox}} - 1
  • {{Western Athletic Conference baseball venue navbox}} - 2

The following stadiums are new, either recently constructed or a recently upgraded program, since 2012. Please create an article for them.

Coaches

We are working to create an article for each current Division I head coach. Each head coach navbox with redlinks is listed below, or see List of current NCAA Division I baseball coaches to find all redlinks. ACC, Big West, C-USA, NEC, Pac-12, and SEC are complete at this time.

  • {{America East Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 1
  • {{American Athletic Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 2
  • {{Atlantic Sun Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 3
  • {{Atlantic 10 Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 4
  • {{Big 12 Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 1
  • {{Big East Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 2
  • {{Big South Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 5
  • {{Big Ten Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 1
  • {{Colonial Athletic Association baseball coach navbox}} - 2
  • {{Horizon League baseball coach navbox}} - 5
  • {{Ivy League baseball coach navbox}} - 2
  • {{Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 3
  • {{Mid-American Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 1
  • {{Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 5
  • {{Missouri Valley Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 2
  • {{Mountain West Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 2
  • {{Ohio Valley Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 3
  • {{Patriot League baseball coach navbox}} - 3
  • {{Southern Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 5
  • {{Southland Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 3
  • {{Southwestern Athletic Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 4
  • {{Summit League baseball coach navbox}} - 1
  • {{Sun Belt Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 3
  • {{West Coast Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 3
  • {{Western Athletic Conference baseball coach navbox}} - 1

Please help us to fill in the navboxes listed here: User:Corkythehornetfan/sandbox

Conference Tournaments

Create a page for each season of active conference tournaments. Not all conferences have a navbox for their tournament yet. Feel free to create one if you wish to fill it in. Those with a navbox are linked below with the number of redlinks, those without a navbox link to the tournament page. Looking for years your team won? Check the main page of each tournament for a listing by school. Completed conferences (ACC, America East, American, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Big West, C-USA, MAAC, MAC, Mtn. West, Patriot, SEC, SoCon, WCC) are not included, nor is the Pac-12, which does not hold a tournament.

  • {{Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 24
  • {{Big South Conference Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 26
  • {{Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 26
  • {{Horizon League Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 31
  • {{Ivy League Baseball Championship navbox}} - 19
  • {{Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 28
  • Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Tournament - 58
  • {{Northeast Conference Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 19
  • {{Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 33
  • {{Southland Conference Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 16, 3 redirect
  • {{Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 35
  • {{The Summit League Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 28
  • {{Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament navbox}} - 34
  • {{Western Athletic Conference Baseball Championship navbox}} - 49

The following conference program navboxes have redirects. Please create a program page for those listed. The AEC, American, ACC, A-10, Big 12, Big Ten, Big West, MAAC, MAC, Mountain West, Pac-12, SEC, Southland, and Sun Belt are complete.

WikiProject collaboration notice from the Portals WikiProject

The reason I am contacting you is because there are one or more portals that fall under this subject, and the Portals WikiProject is currently undertaking a major drive to automate portals that may affect them.

Portals are being redesigned.

The new design features are being applied to existing portals.

At present, we are gearing up for a maintenance pass of portals in which the introduction section will be upgraded to no longer need a subpage. In place of static copied and pasted excerpts will be self-updating excerpts displayed through selective transclusion, using the template {{Transclude lead excerpt}}.

The discussion about this can be found here.

Maintainers of specific portals are encouraged to sign up as project members here, noting the portals they maintain, so that those portals are skipped by the maintenance pass. Currently, we are interested in upgrading neglected and abandoned portals. There will be opportunity for maintained portals to opt-in later, or the portal maintainers can handle upgrading (the portals they maintain) personally at any time.

Background

On April 8th, 2018, an RfC ("Request for comment") proposal was made to eliminate all portals and the portal namespace. On April 17th, the Portals WikiProject was rebooted to handle the revitalization of the portal system. On May 12th, the RfC was closed with the result to keep portals, by a margin of about 2 to 1 in favor of keeping portals.

There's an article in the current edition of the Signpost interviewing project members about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

Since the reboot, the Portals WikiProject has been busy building tools and components to upgrade portals.

So far, 84 editors have joined.

If you would like to keep abreast of what is happening with portals, see the newsletter archive.

If you have any questions about what is happening with portals or the Portals WikiProject, please post them on the WikiProject's talk page.

Thank you.    -- The Transhumanist   10:54, 31 May 2018 (UTC)
